Sound Meter is a versatile app that can be used for various sound testing purposes. Commonly referred to as a Sound Pressure Level meter (SPL meter), noise level meter, decibel meter (dB meter), or sound level meter, this app is extremely helpful in measuring environmental noise and conducting sound tests.
The noise level meter or sound pressure level meter (SPL meter) utilizes the microphone of your smartphone or tablet to measure environmental noise levels in decibels (dB). However, it is important to note that the decibel (dB) value obtained from this app may differ slightly compared to an actual Sound Meter (dB Meter). Therefore, for more precise results, it is recommended to use an actual sound meter or sound pressure level meter (SPL meter) to calibrate the decibel readings as accurately as possible before usage. If you don't have access to an actual Sound Pressure Level Meter (SPL meter), you can go to a quiet location where sound is minimal and adjust the reading value to 20-30dB.
